Polenta! And feeling blah :(

March recap:
185 miles. Best month ever. And a new PR for the half marathon by 7 minutes.

Did 10 miles on Saturday and wanted to stop after 5, problem was I was 5 miles from my place. I felt sluggish and generally blah. As soon as I got home a wave of nauseousness hit me out of nowhere and sidelined me for the rest of the day. This happened 2 weeks ago when I did 16 miles. The only thing I can think of that caused it is drinking too much coffee. I was jittery before this run, even though I had the coffee 3 hours earlier. I havent changed nutrition during the runs or anything else. I did not drink coffee before the half marathon last weekend and felt fantastic.

I dunno. Any thoughts as to the cause of the feeling Ill after the workout? I'm thinking caffeine.

Woke up super early Sunday with a cough and fever. Felt chills and body aches all day Sunday and stayed in bed and took theraflu and nyquil. Today, I'm MUCH better. Only the cough remains. 3 miles on the tread tonight was hard due to the cough.

Allergies! I get the same symptoms about the same time each year.

Dinner tonight! Pan fried polenta in black truffle oil with stir fry mixed veggies. I was surprised to find polenta is a good source of carbs. I added some shredded parmesan after the photo was taken.

  2. I think it's probably the coffee. I'd try having it as a treat after your run? Hope you feel better on your next long one! Congrats on the mileage this month - that's awesome!
