Shamrock

Tomorrow I'm running in this:

Not terribly excited since I've run twice this week due to bad allergies. I've been going to bed at 9pm every night to try to give myself loads of sleep to recover for next week. I think it is working.

My goals for the race:
Finish healthy
Break 44 minutes

Good luck to everyone running races this weekend!

Polenta! And feeling blah :(

March recap:
185 miles. Best month ever. And a new PR for the half marathon by 7 minutes.

Did 10 miles on Saturday and wanted to stop after 5, problem was I was 5 miles from my place. I felt sluggish and generally blah. As soon as I got home a wave of nauseousness hit me out of nowhere and sidelined me for the rest of the day. This happened 2 weeks ago when I did 16 miles. The only thing I can think of that caused it is drinking too much coffee. I was jittery before this run, even though I had the coffee 3 hours earlier. I havent changed nutrition during the runs or anything else. I did not drink coffee before the half marathon last weekend and felt fantastic.

I dunno. Any thoughts as to the cause of the feeling Ill after the workout? I'm thinking caffeine.

Woke up super early Sunday with a cough and fever. Felt chills and body aches all day Sunday and stayed in bed and took theraflu and nyquil. Today, I'm MUCH better. Only the cough remains. 3 miles on the tread tonight was hard due to the cough.

Allergies! I get the same symptoms about the same time each year.

Dinner tonight! Pan fried polenta in black truffle oil with stir fry mixed veggies. I was surprised to find polenta is a good source of carbs. I added some shredded parmesan after the photo was taken.

Yum!

What I like about you

Chicago is growing on me. I moved here in january from san Fran. At first I thought seeing the snow was cool.

But It got old because I wanted to run outside and not on the tread. But since then, my new bff is the tread. It helped me achieve a 7 minute PR in the half marathon.

I also love food. A lot.

Chicago is awesome because of the gourmet street food trucks.

I've eaten bbq meaty balls. They were delicious! Maybe next time I'll get the schweddy balls or the chocolate salted balls.

Today I finally saw the more cupcake truck on the way to
Work. Of course I had to stop and get one.

Which to choose?! Salted caramel, cookies and creme, chocolate chocolate??? I'll have one of everything please!!

I got the red velvet. Mmm!

There is a gourmet Mac n cheese truck too. I can't wait to to find that one and try it out soon.

Chicago, this is the kind of stuff I like about you!
