Lemon loaf & Bon anniversaire!

Thanks for all the well wishes for CB. He seems back to normal and a little drowsy from the meds. I think I was more affected by everything than he was.

The Starbucks lemon loaf is as delicious as Christi @ pedestrian runner made it sound. Yum!

Bon anniversaire!

I'm going to Montreal, Quebec tomorrow to celebrate my birthday. I've never been. Anything that is a must see or do there? I will try poutine and a bagel there and hit up the "brutopia" for some birthday brew. I plan to walk around a lot and go for a few runs. (and visit the luluemon and lole stores)

What's cool to do while visiting our frenchy neighbor to the north?

  1. Oooh. I don't have quebec suggestions but I've heard it's super beautiful. My birthday is the 14th! Maybe we're twins? :)

And that lemon loaf is pretty darn good, agree.

  2. I went to Montreal when I lived in Boston. I really liked the botanical gardens. There was a Jazz festival when we went so there was a ton to do. It was about this same time of year, around Canada day, so maybe you will get lucky? They had an AWESOME parade and the music was fantastic!

    Happy Birthday!

  3. I am so glad you liked the lemon loaf!

Happy Birthday and have a great time! I have never been so I can't give you any suggestions. But I am sure you will find all the great hot spots!

  4. Happy early birthday! Hope that is is wonderful!

  5. Québec is huge, but I'm actually from the south shore of Montreal :)
There's currently a new Cirque du Soleil show in Montreal - Totem...they're always very spectacular.
Botanical gardens are great for running and beautiful for picnic-ing.
Downtown on Ste-Catherine is perfect for shopping. The Jazz Fest ended on Tuesday this week, but now it's the Just For Laughs Festival, which is great (it's down on St-Denis, below Sherbrooke). There are the Fireworks every wednesday and saturday on Île Ste-Hélène (which is actually another great place to spend the day). There's this:
There's the Carifiesta which is a parade on saturday the 9th...and probably way more!!

As for the half-marathon, mine is a training run in my neighborhood, nothing official. But, there's a 10K at the Quartier Dix30, which is right outside Montreal by Champlain Bridge - extremely easy to get to. Here's the link (sorry I can't seem to switch it to English:

Hope this all helps you have a wonderful weekend in Montreal. BTW, there is tons of construction everywhere, don't let that prevent you from having a good time...but if you can walk there or take the metro, it'll always be a better option! :)

  6. Never been to Montreal, though I hear the city is gorgeous! I think the Montreal jazz festival just happened, or maybe it is going on right now. I think it is a huge event there. I know the architecture in Montreal is great, just to see all the various buildings.

    Happy bday and enjoy!

  7. Happy early birthday! Have a great time in Montreal, I've heard it's beautiful and a really cool city.

  8. And I just watched the US-Sweden womens soccer game, I see what you mean about the people being beautiful now, haha I might have to look into going to Stockholm now!
